The three paise coin is a former denomination of the Indian rupee. Whose 1 coin was equal to 3⁄100 of the Indian rupee. The 3 paise coin was minted between 1964 and 1971. The 3 paise coin was minted in only two mints Bombay (present day Mumbai) and Calcutta (present day Kolkata) mint. The coins of the Mumbai Mint have the mint symbol ⧫ (diamond) while the coins minted at the Kolkata Mint do not have any mint symbol.

On one side of these coins, there is a picture of Ashoka Pillar and on the other side of the coin, 3 paise is written between two flowers. Made of aluminum, these coins weighed 1.25 grams. The shape of the coin was hexagonal and its diameter was 21 mm. A total of 1,61,27,04,568 two paise coins were minted between 1964 and 1971.
