After the 25 paisa coin was minted in 1957, another 25 paisa coin came into existence between years 1972 and 1990 with some minor changes. Old Coin 25 paisa coin, popularly called Chawanni is a former denomination of Indian Rupee. Twenty-five paisa came to be known as 1/4 rupee or ‘4 anna’. These 25 paise coin was minted in three Indian governments mints Bombay (present-day Mumbai), Hyderabad and Calcutta (present day Kolkata) mint. Mumbai Mint coins have a mint mark ⧫ (diamond/dot) and Hyderabad Mint coins have a star (*) while Kolkata Mint coins have no mint mark. All 25 paisa coins were demonetized on June 30, 2011.

On one side of these 25 coins, there is a picture of Ashoka Pillar and on the other side of the coin, 25 paise is written. Made of Nickel and Copper, the weight of these coins was 2.5 grams. The coin was round in shape and had a diameter of 19.05 mm.

Due to their rarity, these coins are in great demand among coin collectors. If these coins are available and in good condition then you can get Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,00,000 for them, but if your coins are in good condition then you can get lakhs of rupees for them. The value of these coins also depends on which year and from which Indian mint these coins were issued.
