Old Coin 25 paisa coin, popularly called Chawanni is a former denomination of Indian Rupee. Twenty-five paisa came to be known as 1/4 rupee or ‘4 anna’. The 25 paisa coin was minted between 1957 and 1971. These 25 paise coins were minted in these Indian governments mints Hyderabad and Calcutta (present-day Kolkata) mint. Hyderabad Mint coins have a star mint mark (*) while Kolkata Mint coins have no mint mark.
