The twenty-paise coin is a former denomination of the Indian rupee. Whose 1 coin was equal to 1⁄5 of the Indian rupee. The first 20 paisa coin was minted between 1968 and 1971. The 20 paise coin was minted in three Indian government mints Bombay (present-day Mumbai), Hyderabad and Calcutta (present day Kolkata) mint. Mumbai Mint coins have a mint mark ⧫ (diamond/dot) and Hyderabad Mint coins have a star (*) while Kolkata Mint coins have no mint mark.

Made of nickel and brass, this 20 paisa gold coin has a round shape with a weight of 4.5 grams, a diameter of 22 mm and a thickness of 1.80 mm. Ashoka Pillar is written on one side of these coins and 20 paise with lotus flower is written on the other side. All twenty paisa coins were demonetized on June 30, 2011.
